By Michael Bush
The information that is provided in this book is excellent in a lot
of ways, but the way that the book is set up is its biggest weakness.
The book is set up with 24 different hand examples and gives various
theoretical situations for each one. This style makes you lose what is
really going on in each hand. The book is written more like a test then a
normal book on the subject.
The author tries to get to understand
how the hand played out and how you should have played it. This is
effective at times but other the author goes off subject which can be
confusing. You may end up think more about the way the hand played out
then how you should have played. Even with this confusing writing style
it is evident that the author has a strong understanding on the subject
and he offers some great advice.
Customizer → Monetisation → in_articleThis book will help strengthen
your limit hold’em game. If you read though the different situations
carefully you will end up finding a wealth of concepts that will help
you. The book is not easy to follow but if you can get over the bad
format you will remember the different examples when you are playing and
be able to make educated decisions. Ed Miller the co-author of Small
Stakes Hold’ em: Winning with Expert Play gave the book 10/10, which is a
great endorsement.
Both authors have a good background in playing
Texas hold’em and as writers. Byron Jacobs is both a publisher and
author. He first started playing chess and wrote many books on the
subject. Jacobs now plays mostly poker has had has been successful play
online limit Texas hold’em. Jim Brier was the co-athor of Middle Limit
hold’em and he also writes for Card Player Magazine.
The concepts
in this book will challenge the way you think about playing. You will
begin to think about what kind of actions that other players make likely
mean. You should have a solid knowledge base on the main concepts of
playing limit hold’em before you read this book.
